Honor Your Soul

Often times I find it’s
Difficult to achieve
The nourishment, freedom
We all need to relieve
The burning desire inside
Propelling toward an alternate course
Away from the daily grind
Oh what a powerful driving force

Imploring us to honour and nurture
Gifts bestowed from the Divine
We are here to contribute in a way        Only we can shine
Ignoring the force inside of us
Is akin to swimming upstream
You can do it, if you choose
Or flow along the path of dreams

Where imagination ignites a spark
Deep down inside our minds
Translating into conscious action
Fulfilling our purpose over time

Notable people we read about
In the history books of today
Recognized for an accomplishment
Leaving out baby steps along the way
Each moment, each act
Building exponentially upon itself
Growing, expanding the reach
Bathed in Universal Wealth

Uncountable riches, expanding
Empowerment, Courage and Joy
Knowing our purpose
Filling the void
Enabling us to clearly see
The path ahead lit brightly
For you and me to continue, inspired
By dreams that come nightly

Up Above

I want to write
about you and how
I feel  tonight

Like a little girl
Who is very lost
In the world

But

The words won’t come
I have none left
I’m sorry I’m done

Unable to heal the pain
or bear all the
  suffering again

Four decades, tried to earn your love
  and hope for
another chance up above

Inside Out / Outside In

It feels yucky outside
Is that right? Can it be?
Yes it definitely feels
Bad out there
So much pain, don’t you see?
All of a sudden I’m scared
How can this be? That’s not me!?!
I got to try this again
I need to truly see

Get on out there
Stand on the porch
Listen to the frogs
Feel the air blow
Take a moment to pause
And hear the creek flow

See,its not that bad
Because you just chose to see
The silver lining in our world
A beautiful never-ending sea
Of love and light

So to let God know
I’m thankful I’m around
I’m getting out there
I plan on spreading
Love into the air
Doing what I can to
Heal hearts in despair
Providing comfort to those
Who no longer care
Those who are feeling
Yucky on the inside

Dodging Curve-balls

What an amazing day
The kind that flows
Where balance is abundant
Life shimmering with gold

For moment I thought
I might say that today
Was indeed what you
Would call a perfect day

I stopped short
Of saying it out loud
Didn’t want to rock the boat
Or act too proud

Even went back
Rehashed my steps
Trying to commit to memory
How to stack this deck

The only difference
Was my perspective …
As the phone rang
Shattering the collective

Feelings of bliss and relaxation
Out the door
The crisis so far away
I had no idea
what was in store

Yet, as time passed
Solutions were found
Not a tear was shed or
angry words thrown around

Then in a moment of silence
I realized I must
Always cling
To that place inside my soul
Helping me accept the
Twists and turns life brings

This and That

Just a quick post, update I suppose….

When I started posting poetry, most of the poems were from a collection of jottings and journaling. Memories of years gone by. I did begin writing some new material, yet I felt there was more I wanted to explore.

The last few months, mingled in with holidays, SNOW, a bunch of other funky stuff, MORE SNOW, you get my drift ( lol couldn’t help it 😉 ) I’ve been writing, noticing, listening, pondering.

Playing with perspectives is a big part of it. Choices based on  Or not depending on the choiceof Societies RULES. Following the pack, being like EVERYONE ELSE or not. It’s simple and extremely difficult at the same time.

My Cousin said something to me that was one of those perspective changing moments. I can’t even remember exactly how he said it. Basically, past hurts prevent future experiences.

We write our own story every day.  It can be what ever we choose.

How often do we remember that, throughout  our hectic day?

Currently I’m working on posting  some random writing, poems, affirmations  and recipes. Mostly I’m working on my story  and enjoying the arrival of spring.

Also,  cooking is a hobby of mine, an edible science project! I would love your feedback. (I just need to start taking more pictures) Always seems better as a collaborative effort.

Broken-Heart Repair

Tell me please could you
Tell me where to start
What I’m supposed to do
With this broken heart

Ive read the books and
gone through the motions
But the glue won’t hold
without a magic potion

Everyone has advice about
what I should do
There are some who are concerned
I won’t make it through

Maybe they are right
I don’t know what
the future holds
I try and I try no matter
how many times I’m told

I try to let go of the pain
I just don’t know how
To battle the despair
Looking for someone specializing
in broken-heart repair

Beginnings Abound

Beginnings abound
Snow on the ground
Yet it smells like spring
New beginnings

Some seeds just sprouting
Others awaiting the call
To awaken renewed
From hibernation

All around, wonderful smiles
Seeing memories that I use
To lean on, to nurture growth
As I blossom and know true
Earth is about to have a new hue

Beginning fresh and anew
Each and every day
As each day can never
Be the same as the last
No turning past..

Turning here,  turning there
Some are fleeting moments
Some are memories
Meant to last
In our hearts forever

Questions abound
And the inquiries
Are plentiful
Some no more than theories

That the answers arrive
On Time’s silly line
As they choose
On this glorious
Winter day

Chaos In The Air

Sat here crying over
Nights lost long ago
Wondering if it could
Ever “BE” again

And lo and behold
Unsung prayers answered
Right before my eyes
Instantly ripping away the disguise

Showing me the game
Still is quite the same
As the same players keep
Playing their childish games

As I sit quietly
Out of the chaos
Wondering how on earth
I thought I lost…

Yet what I’ve gained
Is immeasurable
Truly guided by light
Thankful to have the foresight

To go on one’s own
Protecting my family
With courage and integrity
Yet with heartfelt compassion
for those still suffering

Voted via Twitter ~ My First Recipe Post

I want to give this a whirl, hope it’s not too far away from the poetry!

I’ll start gathering pictures soon. This is a new endeavor, encouraged by my close friends and family!

Eating healthy is really important to me, and I found a lot of really delicious healthy ways to eat. I’d like to share them with you! I do my best to buy organic foods, all natural meat, (especially grass fed) and nothing out of the box or can with preservatives.

Cooking at home, using seasonal healthy foods has has a profound impact on my life. My friends and family who sample this food are amazed at the flavor and depth of the meals. They never realized healthy food could taste so good!

I do not use anything ‘low fat’ as the chemicals and sugars replacing the fat are more detrimental to our health. I always do my best to use healthy fats. These are important for our mental clarity, flexibility, skin, hair and nails, as well as many other functions.

Tonight was a busy night, so the oven becomes my friend. If you like pork chops you will fall in love with this dinner!

Misty’s Quick and Easy Oven Pork Chops

I use a glass baking dish, preheat the oven to 375.

My favorite thing to use is Chef Paul’s Pork Magic. If you don’t have that, use  paprika, garlic & onion powders, salt & pepper and some thyme.

Now the rest depends on the size of the dish & the amount of pork. I will get better at measuring soon, I promise 🙂

Cover the bottom of the dish pretty well with your spice(s)
Then add enough water to just cover the bottom of your pan/dish

Place the pork chops in, swirling and flip them so they’re coated.

Put them in the oven, flip over after 15 minutes and then it should be done in 5 to 15 minutes, depending on the thickness. Any longer than 30 minutes they’ll get dry. When you flip the pork chops, you may need to add water.

The best part? All natural, frozen sweet potato fries! They are so good with the pork chops. I just use the juice from the bottom of the pork pan to dip them in;)

And as another side dish, I took frozen asparagus, drizzled two parts grapeseed oil to 1 part balsamic vinegar, some salt and lemon pepper and a pinch of dill.

It will all cook for about the same amount of time.

Meanwhile, I’m not standing in the kitchen for 30-60 minutes!

Even better, use parchment paper to line your bakeware for easy cleanup.

Please let me know what you think and  if you have any questions I’ll be happy to help
